Itinerary 01:
20 March 2009 Day 1: Katmandu. Airport - hotel transfer: Our staff from Monterosa Treks and Expedition will come to receive you for the hotel transfer.
21 March 2009 Day 2: Katmandu on this day we prepare to issue your climbing permit. So on this day, you can have the sightseeing around Kathmandu valley or taking rest, you can do preparation for your expedition.
22 March 2009 Day 3: Katmandu - Lukla (2800 m) early morning trip by plane – night stoppage at Chutanga. The landing strip is perched at mountainside by Dudh Kosi gorge. On the way to Chutanga, we should climb the Chutok La pass (2945 m); and after a 3-hour walk.
23 March 2009 Day 4: Chutanga – Khartitang): Where we start having our breakfast. Also we should walk through the Beautiful Khari Khola to reach Khartitang.
24 March 2009 Day 5: Khartitang – Chatre Danda: The way here is magnificent route via mountain crests through rocky and wild landscapes. We go through a pass and enjoy a splendid panorama of woody regions below us.
25 March 2009 Day 7: Khartitang – Kothey: Which descend down the hillsides, firstly by pleasant meadows; and lower down, forests of blue Himalayan pines; and rhododendron Beautiful views of the south side of Mera Peak. Camp / lodge near the Hinkhu River
26 March 2009 Day 8: Khote - Tangnag (4350 m); Climb up the Hinku valley through summer pastures. Near Lungsamba, the valley narrows between the Kusum Kangru (6369 m) and the west summit of Mera Peak (6255 m).
27 March 2009 Day 09: Khare - Mera La (5415 m) - Base Camp (5300 m); it goes a head on the snowy glacier, approaching the pass and the slope becomes steep. Camp site on a moraine field, bellow the pass.
28 March 2009 Day 10: acclimatization in base camp.
29 March 2009 Day 11: Base Camp - High Camp (5800 m); This period is one of the best part of the climbing.
30 March 2009 Day 12: Mera Peak summit (6454 m); from high camp, we should start early in the morning to the ascent to Mera peak; because some times the whether becomes very windy to climb.
Nearing to the summit, it is a little bit steeper up about 45 degree's elevation. Our Monterosa Treks and expedition had organized a Bulgarian team to summit this peak in spring 2008; and on their way back to the base camp, they had arrived via Skiing. So this peak is enjoyable for skiing to the mountaineer on their way back to base camp as well.
From the top of this peak, giant Himalayas rising above 7000m are envisioned. There are Chamlang 7290m., Makalu 8475m., Baruntse 7145m, to the east Everest 8848m., Lhotse 8516m. And Nuptse the north. And Ama Dablam 6812m, Cho Oyu 8201m and Kantega on the west
31 March 2009 Day 13: Base Camp - Hunku Khola (4900 m); we go up the Hunku Khola valley, wonderful sights of Chamlang (7290 m) and some other small peaks around there.
01 April 2009 Day 14: Hunku Khola - Hunku Nup Lake (5350 m): Leaving behind Hunku Khola valley, crossing moraines we reach to Hunku Nup Lake.
02 April 2009 Day 15: Hunku Nup Lake - Mingbo La Pass (5817 m) - Nare Glacier (5300 m): Crossing nare glacier and Hunku Nup glacier; we reach to this Mingo La pass; which is little bit delicate to cross. Some times we should fix 150m. Fixed rope to the Mingmola pass, and to reach Nare glacier camp site.
03 April 2009 Day 16: Nare Glacier (5300 m) - Pangboche (3980 m); now the trail is easy to walk. We reach to Pangboche; where the most ancient monastery of the Khumbu valley is situated. Here you can see the Yeti's skull and claws inside this monastery. The Ama Dablam mountain can be viewed straight forward, face to face from us.
04 April 2009 Day 17: Pangboche - Tengpoche (3867 m) - Namche Bazaar (3440 m) now on this day via Tengpoche monastery we reach to Namche bazaar. The monastery is situated amidst the dwarf trees and rhododendrons. This is the main Buddhist hub of Khumbu valley.
05 April 2009 Day 18: Namche Bazaar - Lukla.
06 April 2009 Day 19: Fly Lukla - Katmandu by plane and transfer to hotel
07 April 2009 Day 20: Katmandu; Final departure
