Kathmandu - Lhasa and Kailash Tour ( Full Moon in Mansarovar Lake)

Full moon night in Mansarovar Lake on 27 July 2018 (Guru Purnima)

The capital city of Tibet is “Lasha”. It is a beautiful city lying at an altitude of Lhasa, 3650 meters above the sea level. Tourist can explore the unique life style and fascinating culture at Lasha as it also consists of ancient and historical houses, arts and architecture. The ancient Potala Palace, Drepung Monastery, Sera Monastery, Jokhang Temple Norbulunka etc are the exciting places for sightseeing.

From Kathmandu, it takes one hour flight to reach Lasha. Enjoying the exciting views of the Himalayan ranges including the tallest peak of the world Mount Everest being on China Southwest Airlines you will be at Gonggar Airport of Lasha. Our Escorts will manage all the formalities of immigration and custom at Airport. Then our coach will be waiting there to drive you to the hotel for your home stay. It takes two hour to reach the hotel crossing 93 km. The following two days will be dedicated for sightseeing of the beautiful city and Barkhor Bazaar. It will be easier for the new travelers to adjust the temperature and altitude by doing so. On the third day Pilgrims will move towards their pilgrimage, Mount Kailash.

Yamadwar (gate of heaven) is the beginning point to Kailash Parvat. On reaching the holy Kailash Parbat, you will be taken to visit the sacred Mansarovar Lake lying about 15 meters below the Kailash. It takes three days to do the Kailash Kora (Kailash Circumambulation). This rotation of the holy Kailash Parvat with the total circumference of 53 km brings us to the end of our pilgrimage.

All the travelers will be driven back to Miteri Bridge (Friendship Bridge) from where you will be driven back to Kathmandu. This is how our tour will terminate. Kailash-The Mysterious Holy Peak; Most of the Hindu people believe Mount Kailash as the abode of Lord Shiva and goddess Parvati whereas Buddhists worship it as the dwelling of Lord Buddha. Mt. Kailash (6714m), which is considered as sacred abode of the gods and goddesses and the exact “Center of the entire Universe’, is the holiest mountain of all. The mountain is also famous for its unique four-faced shape like that of a handle of a millstone. The cleft on its southern side intersected by a series of rocks forms a sacred Buddhist symbol 'Swastika'. Mt. Kailash is referred to as “Kang Rimpoche” (literally meaning 'a sparkling mass of snow') by the Tibetan locals. Believers relate this mountain to Mt. Meru of Hindu mythology. In ancient Hindu scriptures, Mt. Meru has been described as a mountain, lying in the Himalayan range, with its four faces made of four different jewels (gold, crystal, ruby and lapis lazuli). The Four prominent holy Rivers namely, The Brahmaputra, The Ganges, The Sutlej and The Indus rivers of Asia is originated from Kailash Parvat.

It is believed to be divine by the devotees of four different religions-Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism and Bonpo, with a belief that the gods or founders of these religions had once meditated or resided in the holy mountain. Thus the devout followers of all these religions flock to the mountain to pay homage to the gods residing here.

Manasarovar Lake; Just 15 meters below the holy Kailash Parbat there lies the most sacred Lake of Hindus-Mansarovar which is another pilgrimage destination for Hindus and Buddhist all over the world. Mansarovar, literally meaning 'the consciousness of mind', as “Manas” means Mind and “Sarovar” means Lake. It is situated at an elevation of 4580 meters. Mansarovar Lake is so gigantic that it takes at least three days to just go round its peripheries for locals while other may take 5-7 days for the same rotation. Mansarovar also holds an important religious space among the followers of Buddhism other than the Hindus. One dip into the cold water of this holy Lake is believed, by Hindus, to relinquish the soul of all its sins thus carving a straight path to heaven after death. The chirping of the birds, ducks swimming in the lake, views of the priest, monks and devotees praying, worshipping and enchanting at its shore spread the spiritual wind around. Thousands of devotes come to have the holy bath in this Lake believing it keeps them young and energetic forever.

The travel Company Monterosa organizes the holy tour to these divinities every year. We provide our best service to make your pilgrimage a life time memory. Please come and join us.
