In the lap of Mount Everest and Mount Makalu lies the 7129-meter Mount Baruntse, which was first climbed by Colin Todd and Geoff Harrow on 30 May 1954. Through the same route, many climbers have successfully ascended this Summit since then. It is also becoming a most sought-after destination like Mount Pumori, Ama Dablam, and Mount Everest. Baruntse's South East Ridge is difficult due to steep slopes, 50-degree sections, and a prominent ice cliff that must be climbed facing the risk of avalanche.

The spring season is preferred for Mount Baruntse expeditions for the safety of the climbers, but autumn season climbers have also reached its summit. Mount Baruntse Expedition is organized by Monterosa Treks and Expeditions located at Thamel from Kathmandu and Lukla, followed by an approximately 11- day trek to Baruntse Base Camp. We return back to Kathmandu using the same Lukla and Kathmandu routes after the Expedition is complete. In addition to starting the expedition via Arun valley via Makalu Base Camp, one can also reach Baruntse through Pancha Pokhari (5200m).
