Dolpa is the most remote place situated in the Trans Himalayan region of mid - West Nepal. It has many fascinating villages & is still in the land of mystery & peace. The region is about in hosting of trekkers including seventh highest peak in the World Dhaulagiri 8167m. Dolpa can be said the image of the Shangri-la of Nepal in many aspects and welcoming all of you.
One has to see its landscape filled with natural beauty and experience the remoteness to understand the extreme culture and traditions of the Himalayan people. The nature and culture of this place is rich almost beyond expectation. The high and isolated valleys of Dolpo in northern Nepal are to preserve some of the remnants of traditional Tibetan culture. According to legend, the Guru Rimpoche created Dolpo as a sanctuary for devout Buddhists. Cut off from the world by high mountains and snow-covered passes, Dolpo is the permanent home to about 5000 people whose lives are centered on Buddhism and traditional life linked with the Tibetan history. Our potential destination is to Shey Gompa. But due its wild land, we should take this trip day by day, by taking advantage of prevailing conditions. The distinctive people, architecture and unique life conditions make Dolpa a photographer's paradise to trap in his camera.
The route is: Juphal- Phoksumdo Lake - Shey Gompa - Saldang La pass -Sibu and then Tarakot.
Dolpa is an ancient Tibetan kingdom postured in the north east part of Nepal.
Dolpa was only opened to trekkers in 1990. The Himalayan range can be seen splendor, and Phoksondo Lake with the Ringmo village provide some of the most beautiful and unforgettable Nepalese scenery. We follow the ancient Tibetan salt caravan route, across two high passes and through the wilderness in one of Nepal's most remote areas; which are really unexplainable. In the Dolpa region, the monsoon is remembered to be created by the sea winds blowing from the Gulf of Bengal. So like the Dhaulaghiri region, the trekking is therefore also possible during the summer, a period during which flora explodes Orchid. The center of attraction is Lovely Lake Phoksundo, famous forever changing color to its waters.
Here the steeply ways on to the edge of the Trans-Himalayan plateau that extends from Tibet down into Nepal. This is the region of some of Nepal to most remarkable wildlife, including the blue sheep and Snow Leopard. The snow Leopard and Himalayan pilgrimage have contributed the mystery and attraction of Dolpa region. Dolpa lies between Dhorpatan and Rara Lake. And two of these treks can be combined into a single trek from Pokhara to Jumla as well.
Dolpa trek can be also takes one to two weeks, if you fly there in and out of Dunai. Everyone heads north form there to entering near the peak after about a day and reaching the lake after two days. A few houses in the region for the shelter but as a food deficit area, we need to be self-sufficient food carrier. The trekking route goes from Kathmandu - Nepalgunj- Jhufal - Phokusundo Lake (the most beautiful lake in Nepal) - Shey Gomba - Saldang la – Dunai - Nepalgunj. There are Upper and lower Dolpa treks and we made this itinerary but in your choices, we can change itinerary as well.
