Langtang region is the nearest Himalayan trekking route from Kathmandu. It takes 7 hours bus ride to reach Syabrubesi, the starting point for Langtang trekking. Langtang Valley trekking is a good choice for those trekkers who have limited time but still would like to have trekking experience in the Himalayas. The trekking makes an ascent of over 3000m in just 5 days and takes you closer to Langtang Himalayan range.

Along the way you will encounter beautiful Tamang and Tibetan villages and their unique Buddhist culture. The trail from Lama Hotel up to Langtang village was swept away by an avalanche triggered by April earthquake of 2015 completely devastating Langtang village (3500m). The village is still reeling from the impact and is in the rebuilding process however the trail has already been opened for trekkers.

Major highlight of the trek is the visit to Kyanjin Gompa (3900m), the oldest and biggest Buddhist monastery in the Langtang region. The Gompa is at a vantage point for breathtaking views of Langtang Lirung, Yala, and Kenga Himal as well as icefall of Lirung. You can also hike to Tsergo Ri at 5100m to experience superb views of Langtang peaks and Langtang glacier.

The trail partly covers the territory of Langtang National Park, a prime habitat for snow leopard, red panda, Himalayan black bear and many other rare species.
