The objective of the trek is to reach Gupha Pokhari, situated right in the confluence of Arun and Tamur river surrounded by forested ridges. The entire region lies within the protected zone of Makalu Barun National Park. The park posses a rich variety of vegetation from tropical to alpine and is home to many rare wildlife species in the likes of Red Panda, Snow Leopard, King Fisher, Fly Catchter, Spiny Babbler, Black Bear, Wild Boar etc.

The Guha Pokhari provides amazing vistas of Himalayan peaks in the north from Kanchenjunga and Makalu to Peak 38, Baruntse and Chamlang. There are more species of rhododendrons found in the surrounding area than anywhere in the whole of Nepal.

The easy way to access this trek is through a short flight from Kathmandu to Tumlingtar and then trek from there and back.
