Mount MERA PEAK Expedition with MINGMO LA PASS autumn 2012


Mount Mera peak 6654 meter height from sea level and it is permitted trekking peak in Nepal. Its stands to the south of Mount Everest & dominates the watershed between heavily wooded valley of the Inkhu. J.O. M. Roberts & Sen Tenzing made the fist successfully summit of Mera peak on 20 May 1953, till to date, it is being 59 years. The route they used is still the standard and fallowing who comes for climbing Mera peak every year.

Mera peak is one of the most popular of Nepal's 18 "Trekking Peaks". From the trekker, the walk from Lukla through the Sherpa country of the remote Inkhu valley is an unforgettable experience, offering superb scenery, and abundant wildlife - including rumored sightings of the legendary yeti. Mera peak climbing is easy trekking peak in Nepal. You can do ski descending from the near TOP. From Top of Mera peak can see Mount Everest 8848m. Mount Makalu 8464m. Mount Kanchanjunga 8586m. Mount Lhotse 8516meters as well as many tiny mountains. When reach the TOP of mount Mera peak and climber feels reached a haven. After Mera peak and trekking routes fallow Mingmo La pass and it is wild trek from Mera La.

About 1000 to 1500 Nepali guides and mountaineers climb the 6654m. Mera peak each year, an achievement which requires mountaineering skills and permit from the Nepal Mountaineering Association, Monterosa Treks and expedition is organizing this expedition each season.

20 Sept. 2012 Day 01: Arrival airport transfer to hotel
21 Sept. 2012 Day 02: Prepare to issue your climbing permit & prepare departure for next day
22 Sept. 2012 Day 03: Fly to Lukla (2800 m) early morning by plane – night stoppage at Chutanga. The landing strip is perched at mountainside by Dudh Kosi gorge and the way to Chutanga.
23 Sept. 2012 Day 04: Chutanga –Chatrarbu (Thuli Khark) where we start having our breakfast. Also we should walk through the Beautiful scenery  Chatrarbu (Thuli Khark)
24 Sept. 2012 Day 05: Chatrarbu (Thuli Khark)– Kothey: Which descend down the hillsides, firstly by pleasant meadows; and lower down, forests of blue Himalayan pines; and rhododendron Beautiful views of the south side of Mera Peak. Camp / lodge near the Hinkhu River
25 Sept. 2012 Day 06: Khote - Thangnag (4350 m); Climb up the Hinku valley through summer pastures. Near Lungsamba, the valley narrows between the Kusum Kangru (6369 m) and the west summit of Mera Peak (6255 m).
26 Sept. 2012 Day 07: Thangnag – Khare: it is early morning take breakfast and start walking to Khara. The khare is last village of this area. Way up to Khara fallow hinku khara and way is gradual and near the Khare is steep climb up.
27 Sept. 2012 Day 08: acclimatization in base camp.
28 Sept. 2012 Day 09: Khare - Mera La (5415 m) - Base Camp (5300 m) and high camp:  it goes a head on the snowy glacier, approaching the pass and the slope becomes steep. The Base Camp - High Camp (5800 m); this period is one of the best part of the climbing.  You can see Mount Everest, Mount Nuptse, Mount Makalu & many more snowcapped peaks from here.

29 Sept. 2012 Day 10: Mera Peak summit (6454 m); from high camp, we should start early in the morning to the ascent to Mera peak; because some times the whether becomes very windy to climb. Nearing to the summit, it is a little bit steeper up about 45 degree's elevation. Our Monterosa Treks and expedition had organized a Bulgarian team to summit this peak in spring 2008; and on their way back to the base camp, they had arrived via Skiing. So this peak is enjoyable for skiing to the mountaineer on their way back to base camp as well. From the top of this peak, giant Himalayas rising above 7000m are envisioned. There is Mount Chamlang 7290m., Mount Makalu 8463m., Mount Baruntse 7145m, to the east Mount Everest 8848m., mount Lhotse 8516meters and mount Nuptse the north as well as can see also Mount Ama Dablam 6812m, Mount Cho Oyu 8201m and Mount Kantega on the west. After the summit way down to Khare village for over night.
30 Sept. 2012 Day 11: Khare village  - Hunku Khola (4900 m); we go up the Hunku Khola valley, wonderful sights of Chamlang (7290 m) and some other small peaks around there. Over night camping.
01 Oct. 2012 Day 12: Hunku Khola - Hunku Nup Lake (5350 m): Leaving behind Hunku Khola valley, crossing moraines we reach to Hunku Nup Lake.
02 Oct. 2012 Day 13: Hunku Nup Lake - Mingbo La Pass (5817 m) - Nare Glacier (5300 m):  Crossing nare glacier and Hunku Nup glacier; we reach to this Mingo La pass; which is little bit delicate to cross. Some times we should fixed150m. Rope to the Mingmo La pass and to reach Nare glacier camp site for over night

03 Oct. 2012 Day 14: Nare Glacier (5300 m) - Pangboche (3980 m); now the trail is easy to walk wild trail and then reach to Pangboche; where the most ancient monastery of the Khumbu valley is situated. Here you can see the Yeti's skull and claws inside this monastery. The Ama Dablam mountain can be viewed straight forward, face to face from us.  
04 Oct. 2012 Day 15: Pangboche - Namche Bazaar (3440 m) now on this day via Thyngboche monastery and continue walk down hills, we can reach to Namche bazaar. The Thyanboche monastery is situated amidst the dwarf trees and rhododendrons in Thyanboche. This is the main Buddhist hub of Khumbu valley.

05 Oct. 2012 Day 16: Namche Bazaar - Lukla.
