Mustang: Nepal's prominent Touristy pledge

Mustang MapMustang Trek lying in the rain shadow of the Himalayas is perhaps the last enclave of pristine Tibetan culture. Forbidden & isolated from the rest of the world it was able to evolve its own distinctive culture and tradition which is so rich & unique. Lo-Mustang, the capital is walled city ruled by religious King. Untouched by modern civilization, life in Mustang goes on as it has for centuries in unhurried pace. A trek in to the kingdom of Mustang is an unforgettable experience. Upper Mustang is restricted area of Nepal. Who wish to visit Mustang, have to pay special permit fee and apply for permit in any Government registered trekking agency of Nepal.

Mustang is a beautiful spot fulfilled by temples & numerous monasteries. Surrounded by northern snowy mountainous chains, Mustang is the most fascinating destination for the trekkers & the mountaineers. Although it was open for the tourists in 1990, the tourist arrival here started only in 1992. Speedily blowing gushy air, desolate desert, mound, and settlement inside the rocky cave, celestial houses made of local design & Buddhist stupas fluttering with its religious standards are the specialties of Mustang. The newly visitors are seemed welcoming smilingly by mount Nilgiri & Dhaulagiri; but an inexperienced- one may feel agitated in the beginning.

A Traveler's trip slammed by its speedily blown cold breeze may become always memorable for him. Mustang has been built by the assemblage of three geographical features. Most of the areas in Mustang have been covered by arid fallow land. Though the lowest parts like: Gasa, Kolchepani, Marpha etc places are found greenery. The apple of Mustang is very famous Nepal wide. 45 varieties of apples are found in Mustang's horticulture.

Jomsom, Kagbeni fall in a little bit upper area and the Lomanthang falls in the most upper area. It needs 6days trek to reach Lomanthang from Mustang. No plants or the greeneries are found in this area. But the interesting is that the proofs of human civilization's developments are found here since the historical era itself though it's located in such a difficult remote area.

This place is the fundamental hub of the Buddhist Lama culture. The world renowned Buddhist as well as the Hindu pilgrimage Muktinath is situated at the altitude of 16,000' high. Muktinath has been found as the most sacred pilgrimage since an ancient time immemorial. Though Muktinath can be reached through Kaligandaki riverbank, it can be reached from Pokhara as well. In the same manner it can be reached via Jhomsong, Kagbeni, Ranipauwa and Jharkot.

An ever-unilluminating natural gas lamp keeps burning here forever which is quite amazing to observe. A huge religious fair takes place here on Teej, Janaipurnima, Ramnawami, and Dasai festival. The Kaligandaki flowing here has become the center of faith to the Hindus of all over the world. In this worldwide renowned river the Saligram (black stone) symbolized with conch, wheel regarded as the true impersonation of lord Vishnu are found a lot here.  Having human settlements but assumed as the most difficult rural areas like Samjong, Chhoser, Yari and it's around, there exist many inhabitable caves. Such the ancient caves have been made by engraving the gigantic rocks. It's believed that ancestors of King Jigme Parbal Bista established the settlement here in 14th century.

Lomanthang is the fort inhabited by 181 houses. Lomanthang has been encircled by 856- meter long wall. This fort was encircled in this way to defend from the frequent attack of the then Jumla state.

In Mustang conservation area, it's very rarely found the garbage. Solid wastes are not allowed to throw here. The visitors should bring their garbage either by themselves or should be thrown in the distinctive places by paying the specified fee. Since the arrival of tourists many lodges, hotels, guesthouses have been opened here. Because of having diversified geographical situation and unique nature, different varieties of faunas and wildlife are found here. 51 species of birds and 40 varieties of wildlife are available here.

The best season to visit Mustang is September & October. Some travelers take direct flight to Mustang and some of them start from Ghorepani and Beni. Till to date, the horse and mules are only the means of transportation here. Since a few days onward the tractors and the motorbikes also have been found plying in this area. The tractors and the motorcycles area carried out there by the means of the chopper.
