Mount Baruntse is located at 7129 meters in the lap gap between Mount Everest and Mount Makalu. It was climbed for the first time on 30 May 1954 by Colin Todd and Geoff Harrow. As a result of their successful climb, many climbers have used the South - East Ridge as a route to successfully ascend the summit. In addition to Mount Pumori, Ama Dablam, and Mount Everest, this mountain is also becoming a coveted destination. There are steep ways to climb on the south-east ridge of Baruntse, which makes it a little bit difficult. A prominent ice cliff along 50 Degree's elevation must be climbed facing the risk of an avalanche. The mountain has mostly been climbed in the spring season due to less weather activity during this season, which ensures climbers' safety. There have been times when climbers reached the top of the mountain even in autumn. From Kathmandu and Lukla, the Monterosa Treks and Expedition schedules an approximately 11-day trek to Baruntse Base Camp. After the trek and mission are completed, we use the same route back to Kathmandu and Lukla. At the height of 5200 meters, Baruntse Base Camp is very close to Pancha Pokhari. It is also possible to climb Baruntse via Makalu base camp through the Arun valley
